Carol Hopkins has been quilting since 1980. A project to make doll bed quilts for her nieces led her to open her pattern business in 1999. This pattern is from her Civil War Legacies line, for making quilts that use 18th and 19th century reproduction fabrics. Carol says that when "I saw this block in an antique quilt, it reminded me of a wheel with a fancy hub, perhaps like one that might have been found on carriages in the mid-19th century." Finished blocks: 6 3/4", Finished quilt: 60" x 78". Fabric requirements: 33 squares assorted darks cut 9" x 9" (or 2 yards total of assorted darks) and 9 fat quarters of lights for pieced blocks, 2 1/2 yards for setting, 1/2 yard for inner border, 3 yards for outer border and binding, and 5 yards for backing. 246 |
