How much is shipping?
Any U.S. order over $99.00 ships free. For orders of less than $15.00, it's $4.65. For orders between $15.00 and $55.00, it's $7.50. For orders between $55.00 and $75.00, it's $11.25. For orders between $75.00 and $99.00, it's $13.75. Shipping charges are calculated before any discount coupons are applied.
What shipper do you use?
We usually ship via the United States Postal Service. On occasion, we use UPS or FedEx Ground. The shipment confirmation we send you will identify the carrier and provide a tracking link.
How soon do you ship?
We usually ship on the next business day, though if an order comes through early enough, we sometimes ship the same business day. We always send an email when we ship.
Do you charge sales tax?
Always for shipments to Tennessee addresses. The Supreme Court decision in South Dakota v. Wayfair may require us to add other states.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept MasterCard, VISA, Discover, and PayPal. We do not accept American Express or eChecks through PayPal.
Do you offer gift cards?
We no longer offer gift cards. If you have an unused card, we ask that you use it as soon as possible.
Can I pick up my order?
Yes. If you are in zip codes 370--, 371-- or 372--, you may select "Pickup in Rivergate/Hendersonville TN area" to avoid shipping costs. When that appears on your completed order, we call you to set up a mutually agreeable time and place to pick up your order.
I'm not comfortable entering my credit card number online. Can I call in my order?
Phone orders are not a routine part of our business because we do not have staff dedicated to that task. But we are happy to accept phone orders at (615) 482-6387. Please understand that we usually monitor this phone line only between 9 AM and 6 PM CST, and that there are occasions even during those hours when we are unable to answer. In that situation, if you leave a message we will return your call as soon as possible.
How do I order half yards?
Enter .5 on the quantity box. Want a yard and a half? Place a 1.5 in the quantity box.
Can I purchase a quarter yard of a fabric I like?
We only sell in half-yard increments.
I put a yard and a half in my cart. Will it come in one piece?
Yes. We always send continuous cuts. If we are not able to do that because of a break in the bolt, we will contact you to make sure that you can use the fabric in pieces. We never just ship pieces without asking first.
Do you have the stock that shows on your website?
Yes, 98% of the time. We do encounter breaks or shortages on a bolt from time to time, but 98% of the time we can fill your order. If we do encounter a shortage, we contact you before we fill your order to advise you of the issue.
Your site showed you had 2 yards of a fabric I want. I put both yards in my cart. Now it says Sold Out. Do you have it or not?
When you placed those two yards in your cart, that automatically reduced our stock by two yards. Like in a grocery store, if you put the last two cans of soup into your cart, the next person coming down the aisle won't see any of that soup. If you should abandon your cart and not complete your online order, our system will (after a period of time) empty your cart and put those two yards back in stock, so they're available to another shopper.
Do you have a newsletter?
Yes. When you place an order you can opt in or out of our email list. You can also sign up for our newsletter at the top of each page of our site. We promise not to bury you in emails. We usually send an email update once or twice a month. You can see new products and promotions by clicking on the Melinda's Newsletter link at the top of each page.
I'm a small business owner. Can I set up a wholesale account with you?
No, we do not offer wholesale accounts.
How much fabric is shown in your product photos?
The area shown in our fabric product photos is roughly 6 1/2 inches of the design. There are exceptions (e.g., panels, or particularly large designs). In those cases, the description indicates the size of what shows in the image. If you're concerned about a particular photo, please contact us and we'll give you a precise answer.
Do you have a catalog?
No, all of our items are shown on the web site. We can special order many items, however. If there's something related to sewing that you don't see on the site, click on the Have Questions box at the bottom of each page and send us a note. We'll respond promptly with a price and approximate delivery date.
Do you offer fabric swatches?
Not at this time. Many of the fabrics we stock are made only for a limited time. By the time a swatch arrives, we may no longer have that particular fabric in stock.
Do you ship outside the United States?
On July 29, 2021, Melinda's Fabric Shop announced that it will soon be closing. From this point forward, we will not be shipping outside the US.
How big is a Fat Quarter?
A Fat Quarter is a quarter yard of fabric measuring 18" by 22".
Has your fabric been washed?
No, all of our fabric is unwashed.
Do you have a physical store?
No, Melinda's Fabric Shop exists only in cyberspace.
What is your Return Policy?
On July 29, 2021, Melinda's Fabric Shop announced that it will soon be closing. Therefore, from this point forward, ALL SALES ARE FINAL. NO RETURNS WILL BE ACCEPTED. If we should make a mistake on your order, we will do our best to fix the problem, but a return will not be an option.
What is your Privacy Policy?
Read our entire Privacy Policy by clicking on link shown at the bottom of every page on the site. In general, we don't share any of your email address or any personal information with any third parties.
How do I check the status of my order?
That probably won't be necessary, given how promptly we ship orders. However, you can check the status by clicking on the Order Status link at the top of each page. Then log in or enter the email address and zip code used to place the order. If the status shows Pending, that means we have received the order, but have not done anything with it yet. If the status shows Processing, that means we are working on it and preparing it for shipment. If the status shows Shipped, that means your order is on its way to you. A tracking number will also show, or a note saying it was picked up. Should you need any additional information about your order, please click on the Have Questions box at the bottom of the page and send us an inquiry. We'll reply promptly.
How do I get rid of that Have Questions box at the bottom of the page? I know you're just trying to help, but I find it irritating.
There's a small down arrow at the top right corner of the box. Click that to make it disappear. Want it back? Click the tiny up arrow at the bottom of the page. The larger up arrow takes you to the top of the page.
